Olivia Harmanos was born in 2001 in Birchrunville, Pennsylavnia, a small town about an hour West of Philadelphia. Growing up in Chester County, she was surrounded by 1960’s and 70s architecture from the Rural Modernism movement that emphasized Quaker values of simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality, and environmental stewardship. Influences of Quaker values in the architecture where she lived and went to school in made her realize the impact of the built envrionment as a reflection of a community. She sees herself using these values as a guiding principle in her designs.

Aside from her architectural work, Harmanos has 15 years of rock-climbing experience and is an active guide, coach, and athlete fo the sport. Much of her inspiration stems from exposure to remote outdoor areas where she learned to value environmental responsibilty in design.

In 2024 she recieved her Bacherlor of Science in Architecture and a Certificate of Creative Entrepreneurship at the Tyler School of Art and Architecture at Temple University in Philadelphia. Harmanos plans to continue studying architecture in a Master of Architecture program where she wants to focus her work on designing resilient communities and environments through research in vernacular architecture and bio-informed material fabrication.
